Kenneth Loren Laborde, 83, of Inman, S.C., passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at Spartanburg Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC.

Kenneth was born Aug. 21, 1942, in Perry, Iowa, the son of the late Erdyne McCann Laborde and Kenneth H. Laborde.

Kenneth was an investigator and claims adjustor in the railroad industry, retiring after 28 years of service. He was a dedicated “Railroad Man,” working for the Milwaukee Road and Union Pacific Railroads.

Following retirement from the railroads, Kenneth had a second career, working for an electric cooperative in Fort Myers, Florida.

He also served in the Iowa Army National Guard for seven years.

A member of Woodfin Ridge Golf Club, Kenneth was passionate about playing golf.

Eating ice cream and watching a good baseball game were other activities that brought Kenneth much pleasure.

Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Karen Sue Swanson Laborde; his daughter, Dawn Lynette (Roger) Adams of Urbandale; his grandchildren, Justin Robert Estes and Zachary Dean (Sydney) Estes; his great-grandchildren, Taliah and Adelaide Estes and Tristan, Aurora and Grayson Hess; and his brothers, Harry Laborde, Larry (Denise “Pearl”) Laborde and Robert (Mary) Laborde.

Kenneth was predeceased in 2024 by his granddaughter, Tara Hess.

Kenneth Laborde was a kind and hardworking man who enjoyed life and the happiness of friendship and family. He will be remembered fondly for the love and joy he shared with others.
