A Kentucky man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly assaulting his step-father in West Des Moines.
William Lee McKenzie, 23, of 214 Burtonville Road, Wallingford, Kentucky, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 6400 block of Vista Drive in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that McKenzie allegedly “punched him multiple times in the face,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “bruising on his face,” according to court records.
McKenzie is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 2 in Dallas County District Court.
