Areas of light, freezing drizzle are occurring Saturday morning from the greater Des Moines Metro area farther north and east toward Ames, Marshalltown, Tama and Grinnell, according to the office of the National Weather Service in Des Moines.
The condition will likely end or diminish by 10 a.m., but in the mean time patchy icy and slick spots may develop on roads, sidewalks and especially elevated surfaces.
Motorists and pedestrians should be prepared for sudden changes from wet to icy conditions.
