URBANDALE — A 1-1 game at the intermission quickly changed in tone as host Des Moines Christian scored three times after the break to claim a 4-1 non-conference win over Perry in girls soccer action Thursday.

DMC (5-1) held a 1-0 lead when a Syd Guerra pass found the foot of Natalie Martinez, who converted in the 32nd minute to tie the contest, where it remained until the break.

The hosts were able to control the tempo and possession of the ball in the second half, eventually wearing down the Perry defense and leading to three unanswered goals.

Odaly Perla had stopped two Lion shots in the first half while in goal for Perry (3-2), with Selena Garcia making four saves in the second half.

The Perry junior varsity was also in action, suffering a 1-0 loss. Perla had four saves for Perry, with Lexie Welch firing four shots on goal.

Perry returns to action at Dewey Field tonight when they face Newton. Junior varsity play will start at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity to begin at 7 p.m.
