Lions tame Panthers in WCAC finale

URBANDALE, IOWA — Des Moines Christian, ranked fourth in Class 3A, secured an undefeated season in WCAC volleyball with a 3-0 win over visiting Panorama Thursday.

The Panthers finish their regular season 6-16 overall and 3-6 in conference play while the Lions rose to 33-6 and 10-0. DMC won Thursday with scores of 25-6, 25-15 and 25-10.

Panorama had only eight kills in the match, with Mollie Monthei providing every assist. Jaidyn Sellers had four kills, with Tyme Boettcher, Jasmarie Flanery, Jazmyn Sellers and Grace Webner each having a single kill.

Boettcher posted a team-high eight digs, with Jazmyn Sellers and Webner each making five. Jaidyn Sellers recorded three digs, with Flanery and Carley VanGundy both having two digs.

The Panthers were hampered by a poor outing behind the serve line. The team connected on just 18-of-29 (62) serves, recording three aces in the process.

Jaidyn Sellers was 6-8-3, Jazmyn Sellers 6-of-9 and both VanGundy and Flanery 2-of-4. Boettcher was 1-of-3 and Webner 1-of-1 for the guests.

Panorama will host IKM-Manning Monday in a Class 2A Region 3 contest, with the winner advancing to a Wednesday match at Southwest Valley.
