DES MOINES — While no local boys earned places at last weekend’s AAU Kids State tourney at Wells Fargo Arena, all earned valuable experience and enjoyed the experience.
The tourney is divided into three divisions: A (grades 3-4), B (grades 5-6) and C (grades 7-8), with each division having a large number of weight classes. With each bracket containing 32 wrestlers, it is estimated the total number of participants was near 1,500.
In addition to the young boys, a strong and numerous contingent of young girls were involved in weekend action as the AAU Girls State Tournament was held Sunday. Results and more information will be published in the near future.
