February 6, 2017

  • An officer received a call of a stray dog at the Tiger Bowl. The owner retrieved the animal.
  • An officer was dispatched to a semi-tractor trailer driving erratically on Iowa Highway 17. The vehicle was too far ahead of the officer to catch up, and the call was passed on to the Polk County Sheriff’s office.
  • An officer fingerprinted someone for a job-related background check.
  • An officer checked on a fire in the 300 block of S. State Street. The fire turned out to be a recreational fire only.
  • An officer followed up with a family domestic that occurred the past week.
  • An officer spoke to the Boone County Attorney regarding charges surrounding a theft case.
  • An officer filed for an arrest warrant on someone regarding the theft of a motor vehicle from Madrid.
  • An officer took a report from a resident regarding a neighbor’s dog running loose. The officer will follow up with the owner of the dog.

February 7, 2017

  • An officer was dispatched to a vehicle driving erratically on Iowa Highway 17. The officer stopped the vehicle and found the elderly driver to be fine.
  • An officer did a walk through with the staff of a local business after they found it unlocked. Everything checked out okay.
  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock at the Madrid Home.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of E. First Street. The driver was advised regarding improper rear lamps on the vehicle.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding disposal of medications.
  • An officer followed up with the Polk County Sheriff’s office regarding a past theft case and a warrant being issued.

February 8, 2017

  • An officer was called to Annex Road just north of Iowa Highway 210 by the Madrid Street Department for a vehicle parked blocking the entire roadway. The officer contacted the Huxley Police Department, who tried without success to make contact with the vehuicle’s owner. The officer called the owner and left a message. After an hour of waiting, the officer had the vehicle towed.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a possible E-Bay scam.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call in the 600 block of Washington Street.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of S. State Street. The driver was warned for improper lamps.
  • An officer stopped a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of E. Second Street. Everything checked out okay, and the driver was warned for a stop sign infraction.
  • An officer followed up with video evidence for the Boone County Attorney on a past drug case.

February 9, 2017

  • An officer was called to Little and Market streets for a two-vehicle accident.
  • An officer was called to the madrid High School for a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Everything checked out okay.
  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 200 block of S. Union Street.

February 10, 2017

  • An officer fingerprinted two Madrid residents for job-related background checks.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a civil issue dealing with child custody.
  • An officer fingerprinted a Madrid resident for a job-related background check.
  • An officer was contacted by a realtor who wanted a house check on S. Greene Street because she received a report of people trying to break in. The officer checked the house and found it vacant. The officer made contact with the people at Sixth and Greene streets and gave them all trespass warnings to stay off the property.
  • An officer was dispatched to Fifth and Main streets for a 911 call who said that he was being followed by someone. The officer located the caller at Second and Main streets but did not locate the other vehicle. The officer will give the residence extra patrol.
  • An officer received a compliant of a dog running at Fifth and Walnut streets.

February 11, 2017

  • Officers assisted with a 2-year-old who was brought into the Madrid Police Department exhibiting seizures.
  • An officer performed a welfare check at a residence in the 200 block of S. Main Street. Everything checked out okay.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
