- An officer assisted an elderly female with getting the ice off of her vehicle so that she could open the doors.
- An officer assisted with a civil standby to retrieve personal property from a residence.
- An officer received a call from someone from out of state. The caller said her friend was posting on Facebook that her husband broke her cell phone after an argument, and the caller was concerned for her friend’s well being. The friend was believed to be staying at a house in Madrid, but the caller was unable to provide any information as to where. The officer was unable to locate any individual in Boone County by the name given by the caller . The caller called back the next day after realizing that she called Iowa when she lived in New Mexico.
January 17, 2017
- An officer spoke to dispatch about someone with a valid warrant who frequents the city.
- An officer followed up with the Postal Inspector Service in reference to a drug case that they have been working on.
- An officer took a report of to people walking around town and asking others for money because they were out of gas. Officers made contact with the people, who had secured fuel from a friend. Everything checked out okay.
- An officer took a report of possible gunshots heard in the 100 block of E. Ninth street. The officer canvassed the area and was unable to locate anyone.
- An officer and Boone County Deputy Sheriffs responded to the Cedars regarding a tip that a subject with a valid Boone County warrant was parked in the parking lot. After a brief struggle with the subject, officers arrested Lance Tjernagel on a felony domestic assault warrant and transported him to Boone County Jail.
January 18, 2017
- An officer performed a vehicle unlock at the Cedars.
- An officer was dispatched to a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed coming into town on northbound Iowa Highway 17. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle.
- An officer was dispatched to an incomplete 911 call in the 200 block of N. State Street.
- An officer assisted Boone County Deputy Sheriffs regarding two suspicious males near the High Trestle Trail bridge. The officers made contact with the males and subsequently issued a citation to John Marvig of Minnesota for possession of drug paraphernalia and arrested Samuel Adams of Chariton for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
- An officer took a report of several storage units having the locks removed and possibly burglarized. The officer will follow up with the victims to obtain a burglary report.
- An officer was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle driving around the storage units. The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who had heard of the possible break-ins on Facebook and was there to check his units to see if they had been broken into. Everything checked out okay.
January 19, 2017
- An officer assisted the Iowa Department of Human Services with a welfare check in the 600 block of Maverick Lane.
- An officer responded to a local restaurant regarding a report of usual behavior by a patron, and the caller was concerned for the welfare of the teens working. The officer spoke with the staff, who advised that everything was okay, and the caller misunderstood the situation.
January 20, 2017
- An officer was dispatched to a vehicle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on Iowa Highway 17. The vehicle made it through town. A Boone County Deputy Sheriff stopped the vehicle in Luther.
- An officer was dispatched to a stalled vehicle that was causing a hazard on Iowa Highway 17 about two miles north of Madrid. The vehicle was removed upon the officer’s arrival.
- An officer received a complaint of a fake $50 bill being passed at a local retail store.
- An officer met with someone who turned in an item found on Iowa Highway 17.
- An officer spoke to a Iowa Department of Human Services staff member regarding an on-going case.
- An officer responded to a local retail store regarding three suspicious males in the store who were possibly shoplifting. The officer made contact with the young men and determined that no theft occurred. The officer warned the juveniles about the city’s curfew and sent them on their way.
- An officer took a report of a suspicious vehicle around some local storage units. The officer checked the area and was unable to locate anyone.
January 21, 2017
- An officer took a report of a broken water main west of town in the Reddish Addition. The officer notified the water department.
- An officer assisted the Madrid Fire and Rescue and the Boone County Hospital regarding a medical call in the 400 block of Southern Prairie Drive. The patient was transported by ambulance.
- An officer took a report of a dog left outside in a kennel. The officer checked on the animal and determined that it had access to shelter, water and food.
