January 22, 2018

  • Officers went to Boone for a court case.
  • An officer performed a background check on a past Madrid area resident for a special agent.
  • An officer received a complaint of an orange Chevy truck, driving on Fifth Street and using an emergency vehicle siren. The officer will speak the owner.

January 23, 2018

  • An officer fingerprinted a Madrid resident for a job-related background check.
  • An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Peterson Parkway for a scam call. The caller claimed they kidnapped the victim’s daughter and wanted money. The scammer eventually hung up.
  • An officer was called to the Madrid Bank for another scam call matching the first one.
  • An officer was called to a disturbance at Third and State streets. The disturbers left the area before the officer’s arrival.
  • Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Maverick Lane after a caller said he believed someone was trying to break into his house through a bedroom window. The officers responded and determined the suspicious person was working on the cable service.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a lost cell phone.
  • An officer was dispatched to assist the Dallas County Sheriff’s office in locating someone.
  • An officer stopped and spoke to two people behind the Madrid Home, who were seen going through furniture that was sitting on the back side of the building and believed to be thrown out by the home. The officer advised them to call the Madrid Home during business hours and verify that the property is in fact trash and able to be picked up.
  • An officer responded to the area of E. Ninth Street for suspicious activity. The officer located the vehicle in question, and the occupant checked out okay.

January 24, 2018

  • An officer was called to the 400 block of E. Fourth Street for a dog running. The officer contacted the owner and returned the dog home.

January 25, 2018

  • An officer performed a welfare check in the 400 block of Fairview Drive after receiving a call from an out-of-town person who was not able to make contact with her friend for a couple days. Everything checked out okay.
  • An officer checked on a stalled vehicle at 22nd and Union streets. The driver was able to get the vehicle running and moved off of the roadway.
  • An officer assisted the Drug Task Force and federal officers with a narcotics search warrant.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a phone scam. No private information was exchanged, and the caller hung up after a heated conversation.
  • Officer responded to St. Malachy’s Catholic Church regarding a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle checked out okay.

January 26, 2018

  • An officer spoke to an out-of-town couple regarding a civil issue dealing with a camper.
  • An officer assisted the Boone County Sheriff in the 600 block of E. Sixth Street with a writ on a camper.
  • An officer responded to Maverick Lane for a report of a domestic assault in progress. The officer checked on the juvenile victim, who admitted to making up the abuse claim in order to get attention.
  • An officer responded to assist the Boone County EMS with a combative patient.
  • An officer responded to St. Malachy’s Catholic Church for a reported suspicious person.

January 27, 2018

  • An officer stopped a reported reckless driver traveling southward on Iowa Highway 17 into town. The driver was an elderly male who was struggling to maintain his lane. The officer advised him of the complaint and followed him home.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle at Casey’s for failure to stop on red at the lights. The driver was issued a warning, but the occupants of the vehicle were under age and out past curfew. The officer requested their respective parents to come to the office to collect them. They were issued a warning for the curfew violation.

January 28, 2018

  • An officer responded to 800 block of S. Union Street for a civil stand-by.
  • An officer responded to Casey’s for a non-emergent medical issue.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
