January 23, 2017

  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a civil case over property loaned to another person.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident after he was bitten by the neighbor’s dog. The dog was on its own property, and no marks were left due to his wearing a heavy coat. The officer will speak to the owner of the animal to make sure it is not allowed to run.
  • An officer took a report of a dog running loose by a local business. Upon the officer’s arrival, the animal could not be located.

January 24, 2017

  • An officer spoke to someone regarding trash at an abandoned property in town.
  • An officer took a report of several juveniles lighting fireworks at the Ogden Elementary School. The officer will follow up with the school administration and with their parents.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of E. Ninth Street. The driver was warned for improper registration displayed on the vehicle.

January 25, 2017

  • An officer worked on a bad-check case from a local business. The officer contacted the suspect in Florida, and she made arrangements for payment.
  • An officer fingerprinted a Madrid resident for a job-related background check.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of S. Kennedy Avenue. The driver was issued a citation for driving without a valid driver’s license.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of S. Kennedy Avenue. The driver was warned for improper U-turn and was determined to be lost. The officer assisted the motorist with directions to the destination.
  • An officer assisted Boone County Deputy Sheriffs regarding a suspicious vehicle in the 1500 block of 331st Drive. The officer located the vehicle and determined the occupant was a neighbor who was out looking for a lost dog.
  • An officer took a report of an unwanted repeat caller to the Cedars of Madrid who made unwanted remarks to staff on the phone. No contact information was given to the officer regarding the caller’s identity.
  • An officer followed up with a past drug case in Madrid.
  • An officer followed up with a past burglary case in Madrid.

January 26, 2017

  • An officer received a report of a dog running at large at First Street and Iowa Highway 17. The owner of the dog called back shortly after and stated that the dog was captured.
  • An officer assisted the Madrid High School staff with a home visit on a child that missed several days this year.

January 27, 2017

  • An officer performed an escort for a funeral procession.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who reported finding tracks in the snow going around his vehicle. The person wanted to report the suspicious activity.
  • An officer took a report of erratic driving of a vehicle traveling northbound on Iowa Highway 17 from Granger. The vehicle never made it to town.
  • An officer returned a call regarding a civil child-custody issue. The female half was concerned that her ex-husband was upset and would return to her house later. The officer provided extra patrol around the residence.

January 28, 2017

  • An officer spoke to someone on the phone regarding a civil issue.
  • An officer performed a welfare check on an elderly woman on W. Sixth Street. She was okay.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
