- An officer was dispatched and performed a vehicle unlock in the 100 block of Johnathan Lane.
- An officer received two requests for background checks from a federal background investigator. The officer checked the persons through dispatch, filled out the paperwork and faxed the requests back to the federal agent.
- An officer followed up with a company about removing debris from a demolished home, on N. Main Street. The company confirmed that work will be starting as soon as the DNR paperwork is returned.
- An officer responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of W. First and Dalander streets. No injuries were reported in the car-deer accident.
November 19, 2019
- An officer sat in on a safety meeting at the Madrid Elementary School.
- An officer had a mentor meeting with a Madrid Elementary School student having issues with running away from teachers.
- An officer received a call from a Meadow Estates resident about a person going under several homes in the community who said he was from the water department. The officer drove through the park and saw a person in a park vehicle doing this and working on water issues. The person was not a Madrid Water Department employee.
- An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of S. Water Street for a female wanting a walk through at her house after she came home and found that the garage door was shut although she knew she left it open. The officer cleared the house and found no one had entered and nothing had been disturbed.
- An officer met with a Madrid resident and gave the resident a copy of an accident report from the previous night.
- A lost dog was reported in the area of 400 block Southern Prairie Drive. An officer picked up the animal and transported it to the Madrid City Hall. The owners were located and the animal returned.
- An officer responded to an assault call in the 600 block of Brodie Street. No assault occurred. Juveniles were playing and their engagement escalated. The parents and juveniles were spoken to.
- An officer responded to the 100 block of Madelyn Street. Parents requested the officer speak to their son about urinating in public.
- An officer responded to the Madrid Police Department for a report of suspected child abuse.
- An Iowa Department of Human Resources referral was made.
- An officer took a phone call about a missing cat.
- An officer responded to the 100 block of Jonathan Drive for a report of harassing text messages.
November 20, 2019
- An officer received a call from the Madrid Elementary School staff about a fifth grader who assaulted three teachers. The officer arrived and gave the student a ride home after staff spoke to the student’s guardian and determined the guardian did not have a way to transport the student home.
- An officer received a call about a property at Sixth Street and S. Kennedy Avenue with junk piled on the curb. The officer determined it was garbage waiting for pick up b Walter’s Sanitation. The An officer will follow up after garbage pick-up and will speak with the owner if the items are still there.
- An officer met with a Madrid resident about turning in a found license plate.
- An officer assisted the Madrid Elementary School principal with a welfare check on a student who had not been at school the last three days and with no phone call from the guardian.
- An officer followed up on a civil case involving a dog over the weekend. The victim wanted the suspect called and given a trespass warning and no other legal action taken. The officer called the suspect and advised her of the property owner’s wishes.
- An officer spoke to a repo company employed by US Bank about a vehicle that was in impound on a case. The officer released the vehicle so that the company could stop accruing costs.
- An officer responded to a report of a reckless driver traveling southbound through Madrid on Iowa Highway 17. The officer located and stopped vehicle. The driver was apparently normal, and a warning was issued for driving behavior.
- An officer responded to a medical call in the 100 block of W. Second Street and assisted EMS.
- An officer returned a phone message regarding shots fired. The incident occurred outside of the city limits. The caller already notified Boone County Sheriff’s office, but a deputy did not respond to area.
November 21, 2019
- An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who reported that she woke up at 5:45 a.m, and found a male standing over the top of her bed. The male was known to her. She said she yelled at him, and he ran out.
- An officer checked on a vehicle parked at the park with a female sleeping inside. The female was from out of town and was waiting for her child to get out of pre-school.
- An officer did a background check on Iowa Courts Online for a local realtor on a possible tenant.
- An officer received a call from a Madrid resident about a scam call claiming to be from the Social Security Administration. A short time later, a second resident reported the same scam. Residents are reminded that the Social Security Administration will not call you, so if you get a call from someone who threatens that you have to call back or send payment or they will suspend your Social Security number, it is a scam, and you should simply hang up.

November 22, 2019
- An officer responded to a panic alarm at the Tiger Bowl that turned out to be false alarm.
- A resident turned in an ID and insurance card found on the trail. An officer attempted to contact owner.
- An officer received a records request from another department.
- An officer received a call from the Madrid Elementary School regarding a student.
- An officer assisted Boone County deputies with a two-vehicle accident near 310th Street at S. Avenue. All the county’s deputies were on the other side of the county, so the officer assisted the motorists with medical attention and the exchange of information.
November 23, 2019
- An officer responded to the Madrid Home for a fire alarm that was ultimately determined to be a false alarm. The officer disregarded the fire department response per the facility staff.
- An officer was dispatched to a retail store about suspicious activity in the parking lot. The officer forwarded the information on to Dallas County.
