October 10, 2016

  • An officer received a call from the Madrid Public Library about a sixth grader being on the roof on Friday. The officer spoke to the student and his father and trespassed him from the library grounds.
  • An officer followed up with the preschools about training for National Fire Safety Week.
  • An officer spoke to several individuals reference an ongoing harassment case.
  • An officer received a call of two dogs running at large in the northern part of the city. The officer was unable to locate either of the animals.

October 11, 2016

  • An officer and city crew assisted a local business with a lift assist.
  • An officer received several complaints of two dogs running on Fairview Drive. The officer was unable to catch the animals. These were the same two dogs reported last night.
  • An officer taught three fire safety classes with the Madrid Volunteer Fire Department for National Fire Safety Week.
  • An officer performed a funeral procession.
  • An officer attempted to help an owner find her dog after it ran away at Edgewood Park. The officer was unable to locate the animal.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding kids skateboarding on the Iowa Highway 210.
  • An officer spoke to a subject regarding the subject’s vehicle missing. It was determined the vehicle was possibly privately towed by the landlord of the subject’s former residence after the subject left the vehicle parked on the property for several days after moving out. The officer advised and is awaiting information from the landlord.
  • An officer spoke to a subject regarding a dog running at large. The officer was unable to locate the animal.

October 12, 2016

  • An officer assisted Madrid Volunteer Fire Department with teaching three fire safety classes for National Fire Safety Week.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle just south of town after it was called in for careless driving. Driver was warned for making a bad pass.
  • An officer was dispatched to Casey’s for a gas drive off. The officer could not locate the vehicle, but the store staff did get license plate information. The officer will follow up with the Boone owner and collect the money or file theft charges.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a civil child-custody issue. The officer advised the resident to speak to a civil attorney.
  • An officer assisted the Marion County Sherriff’s office with a theft case possibly involving a local individual.
  • An officer followed up with a theft-of-fuel case from earlier in the day. The subject in question was located and provided proof of purchase of the sale from the store. The store was advised and will look back at its records.
  • An officer was notified of a possible intruder in a residence in the 200 block of N. Union Street. The officer made entry and found nobody inside.
  • An officer followed up with an individual regarding a previous harassment case.
  • An officer took a report of harassment via telephone. Both parties were warned for harassment, and they agreed to cease communicating with one another.
  • An officer attempted to make contact with a subject involved in a previous hit and run/OWI accident in Madrid regarding possibly adding additional charges.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Rescue and Cedars staff with a lift assist at the Cedars.

October 13, 2016

  • An officer took two reports of stolen cars. The woman suspected of the thefts, Bobbi Barden of Meadow Estates, 917 S. Meadow Ave., #57, Madrid, was arrested on a charges of second-degree theft.

October 14, 2016

  • An officer met with a Madrid resident who turned in a found marijuana smoking device that was found on the side of the roadway.

October 15, 2016

  • An officer took a parking complaint in the 200 block of S. Water Street.
  • An officer received a noise complaint regarding a train whistle in the 400 block of N. Water Street. The officer advised the party, who agreed to keep the noise down so as not to disturb the neighbors.
  • Two motorists reported another motorist was failing to maintain control of the motorist’s vehicle while headed north into town on Iowa Highway 17. The officer located the vehicle and observed erratic behavior as well. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The officer believed the driver was under the influence of drugs, and so the driving case was turned over to an Iowa State Patrol drug recognition expert to perform further testing.

October 16, 2016

  • An officer was dispatched to E. First Street regarding a missing person with medical problems. The missing subject returned a short time later.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
