A Madrid teenager was killed Monday afternoon and the two people he was riding with were injured when their car collided with a semi-tractor trailer in Alden, Iowa, in Hardin County. The truck driver was also injured.
According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, Jayden Moore, 20, of Madrid was southbound about 12:45 p.m. on County Road S27 in a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse when the vehicle collided with a 2001 Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer traveling eastbound on County Road D20 and driven by Keith Hinders, 61, of Eldora.
A passenger in Moore’s car, Noah Moore, 17, of Madrid was killed in the collision. A second passenger, Elijah Moore, 17, of Madrid was injured.
Jayden and Elijah Moore were transported by ambulance first to the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls and then to the MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
Hinders also sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls.
According to the crash report, Moore’s vehicle came to rest in the ditch southeast of the intersection, and Hinder’s vehicle came to rest on the southbound shoulder east of the intersection.
All the victims were wearing safety belts except Noah Moore, according to the report.
Assisting the Iowa State Patrol were the Hardin County Sheriff’s office, Alden First Responders, Alden Fire Department, Hardin County E-Squad, Iowa Falls EMS, Williams EMS and Webster City EMS.
