A West Des Moines man was arrested Wednesday night after he allegedly assaulted his wife in the course of a scuffle over marijuana wax.
Brian John Lucas, 34, of 1313 94th St., West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of 94th Street, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
According to court records, Brown allegedly “admitted to pushing his wife while inside their bathroom, causing her to fall to the ground.”
Brown told the officers that he pushed his wife “because he wanted to get marijuana wax from her, which she was preventing him from having,” according to court records.
The victim told the officers that she tried “to lock herself in the bathroom in an attempt to get away from” Lucas, who “forced his way into the bathroom” and allegedly “grabbed her arms and fingers and twisted her fingers to the point of lingering pain,” according to court records.
Lucas is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
