Perry's Grace Marburger (30) leads the break, with Maddie West following, during Tuesday's non-conference game with Greene County.

Senior Grace Marburger scored 27 points and junior Jo Diw provided 24 to lead host Perry to a 70-38 non-conference win over Greene County Tuesday.

Perry (8-2) held a 14-9 lead after one period, but Greene County (3-8) hit a cold snap in the second quarter while the Jayettes scored repeatedly on the break to open a 32-14 lead at the intermission. Marburger had 19 points and Diw 11 in the first half, with a pair of Emma Olejniczak free throws the only other Jayette points before the break.

An obvious edge in speed helped Perry’s harassing defense force numerous turnovers, allowing the hosts to outscore the Rams 22-11 to generate a 54-25 lead entering the final quarter.

Marburger sank four 3-pointers and Molly Lutmer two, with Diw and Olejniczak also knocking down treys for the hosts while Hannah Promes hit the lone triple for the Rams. Perry sank 10-of-15 free throws (all in the first half) while Greene County was 5-of-10 at the line.

Lutmer finished with eight points for Perry, with Olejniczak adding seven points while Isabel Saemisch and Maddie West added a basket apiece.

Kenna Marquardt had 10 points to lead Greene County, with Promes adding nine points and Laurin Lyons seven. Samantha Hardaway and Ashley Millard scored four points apiece, with Bailey Cunningham and Regan Lamoureux scored two points each.

Perry visits Ballard Friday and Roland-Story Saturday, with a trip to Boone scheduled for Tuesday before the team hosts Bondurant-Farrar Jan. 13.
