Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson will speak to voters Monday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Commonwealth Provision at 1215 Second St. in downtown Perry.

The event is free and open to the public.

Williamson has sold more than 3 million books worldwide, with millions of people attending her lectures over a 35-year career focused on spiritual enlightenment and well being.

The Williamson presidential campaign currently has paid staff in nine states, with Brent Roske, former host of the Emmy-nominated TV series “Roske on Politics,” running the Iowa campaign.

“My campaign for the presidency is dedicated to the search for higher wisdom,” Williamson’s website says. “Its purpose is to create a new political possibility in America — where citizens awaken, our hearts and minds are uplifted and our democracy once more becomes a thing about which we can all feel proud.”

Williamson’s issue statements are available online on the campaign website.

The Des Moines Register said Williamson has “undeniable appeal to those who are troubled by signs of moral bankruptcy and lack of human compassion in the current administration.”

The Monday event is sponsored by the Perry-Area Democrats.
