Marilyn Brady, 92, of Perry passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at the Kings Garden Campus of Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 11 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Marilyn Laverne Brady was born April 14, 1931, in Joice, Iowa, to Conrad and Alpha (Brones) Reines.

She graduated from Thompson High School with the class of 1949.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Eugene Ralph Brady at West Prairie Church in Leland, Iowa, on Aug. 19, 1960, and they shared 52 years together.

She worked as a secretary at the Thompson School District, Perry Utility Company and Perry Elementary School. Her most cherished job was that of a wife and mother.

Marilyn loved the Perry community. She was a member of the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, PEO Chapter, Red Hat Society, Bridge clubs and was a community volunteer.

She supported many activities of the Perry School District.

Marilyn enjoyed gardening, music, travel, animals and was a fantastic cook.

She was so very proud to be Norwegian. Her favorite trip was to Norway to visit relatives.

Marilyn always put her family first as a loving caregiver and the biggest cheerleader to her daughters and grandchildren at every opportunity.

In death she rejoins her husband, Dr. Eugene Brady; parents, Conrad and Alpha Reines; and a brother-in-law, Jim Moore.

Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her two daughters, Maribeth (Bill) Wright of Norwalk and Colleen (Jeff) Nolting of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren, Grant (Christine) Wright, Jackson Wright, Kennedi Wright and her fiancé, Caleb Vasconez, Hayden Nolting and Aaron Nolting; siblings, Carroll (Virgean) Reines, Cheryl Moore and Linda (Ken) Ferjak; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials will be given to the Perry Lutheran Homes or Raccoon River Pet Rescue and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
