Mary Slaughter, 88, of Bouton passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at her home in Bouton, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 25 from 2-6 p.m., with family present from 4-6 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be at the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.

Memorials will be given to First Christian Church and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Mary Ann Slaughter was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Perry, Iowa, to Edward Cleon and Bertha Marie (Fair) Houseman.

She attended school in Des Moines at Willard Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High and East High School.

Mary was united in marriage to Arnold Slaughter in Des Moines Oct. 27, 1951.

She worked at Iowa Fiber, Ben Franklin, M and E Cards, all in Des Moines. After she retired, she did demonstrations for Anderson Erickson Dairy and HyVee

Mary was a member of the First Christian Church in Perry.

She enjoyed crocheting and collecting porcelain dolls and growing flowers in her garden.

In death she rejoins her parents, Edward and Bertha Houseman; and an infant brother, William.

Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her husband, Arnold Slaughter of Bouton; children, Bob Slaughter of Bouton and Lorrie (Rod) Trogdon of Clive; grandchildren, Jason (Paula) Slaughter of Indianola, Christina (Justin) Boat of Clive, Jessica (Jon) Mayfield of Ankeny, Aaron Slaughter of St. Paul, Minn., Bryan (Alicia) Trogdon of West Des Moines and Travis Slaughter of Mahtomedi, Minn.; great grandchildren, Bailey, Taylor, Samantha, Makayla, Kaylee, Isaiah, Cheyenne, Gwennyth, Elizabeth, Kaylee S., Cadence, Brittany, Peyton, Carter and Adeline; God children, Lynda Meadows, Dana Meadows and Charlotte Meadows Ayers.
