Minburn man arrested after grabbing wheel, causing accident

Robert Lee Long Jr., 24, of Minburn faces a felony charge of child endangerment causing bodily injury, two misdemeanor charges of child endangerment causing injury and a charge of domestic abuse-simple assault after an incident Saturday.

A Minburn man faces child endangerment charges after allegedly grabbing the steering wheel of a vehicle moving at high speed and causing an accident Saturday, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s office.

Robert Lee Long Jr., 24, faces a felony charge of child endangerment causing bodily injury, two misdemeanor charges of child endangerment causing injury and one charge of domestic abuse-simple assault.

According to complaints filed Saturday by the Polk County Sheriff’s office, Long intentionally caused the multiple-vehicle accident when he jerked the steering wheel and hit his girlfriend who was driving the vehicle. The girlfriend was injured in the incident.

A 3-year-old girl also in the car with Long was not injured, according to law enforcement.

Long is being held in the Dallas County Jail on bond of $10,500. Magistrate Jonathan Kimple has scheduled a preliminary hearing in the case for Wednesday, April 25.
