MINBURN, Iowa — Starting Wednesday, Dec. 21, the Minburn Communications office at 416 Chestnut St. in Minburn will be temporarily closed for remodeling, the company announced Tuesday. All staff and operations will relocate to the Woodward office at 100 S. Main St. in Woodward during the project.
The rural independent telephone company known as the Minburn Telephone Co. began operations in 1903 from the local Ed Basart Drug Store located in the heart of Minburn. After 62 years, the company moved a few blocks away to a newly constructed brick building located at 416 Chestnut St., where Minburn Communications has resided ever since.
“This will be the second remodel for this space,” said Debra Lucht, Minburn Communications CEO and general manager. “Aside from a little paint touchups, the last major refresh was completed in 1984. It’s time to update the facility to better represent our brand, showcase our services and accommodate our expected growth from the Dallas Center and Adel areas and staff. From the type of customer service interaction to the visual appearance, we want all our customers to have the same experience no matter which office they visit.”
The Minburn office will officially close at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21 so that the staff can begin the cleanout and preparation, Lucht said. Contractors are slated to begin work the first week of the new year, with a goal to have all construction complete by mid- to late-spring 2023.
“The staff look forward to returning to and greeting customers at the newly remodeled space,” Lucht said. “In the meantime, the familiar, friendly faces seen in Minburn will be in Woodward ready to greet customers, accept in-person payments and assist with any other communication needs.”
During the temporary closure, in-person payments will not be collected in Minburn, but the Minburn drop box will be available and checked daily until further notice. In addition, the Village Post Office will not be available during the construction period. All Village Post Office services will resume when staff has returned to the Minburn office.
Customers can also make bill payments online via Pay Now! from Minburn Communications SmartHub account management tool, or they can be made electronically via Automatic Withdrawal, by Credit Card or by mailing before the 20 of each month. The Woodward office hours are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
