Motorists reminded U.S. Highway 169 to close fully Monday

Perry-area motorists are reminded that Monday, July 16 begins the complete closure of U.S. Highway 169 between Iowa Highway 141 and U.S. Highway 30.

The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) has set a target completion date of Sept. 15 for the $9 million pavement-rehabilitation and concrete-overlay project by Brooklyn, Iowa-based Manatt’s Construction Co.

The 14-mile stretch of roadway between Bouton and Ogden will now be completely closed to through traffic. Limited one-lane traffic was available during the first phase of the construction project, which started June 25.

The DOT recommends motorists use the following detour route: Iowa Highway 141 east to Woodward, Iowa Highway 210 north to Madrid and Iowa Highway 17 north to U.S. Highway 30.

Local motorists should also be aware the granular roads H Avenue and 142nd Place west of Perry will be closed off Iowa Highway 141 from 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 17 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 19 for maintenace by the Dallas County Secondary Roads Department.
