The Central Iowa Volleyball League recently completed their seasons, and teams from the Perry Rec youth league performed quite well in their second year of action.

The league, sponsored by Sportsplex West, held game every Saturday from December until February at the Horizons Event Center in Clive. Each team played four matches every weekend.

A season-ending tournament was held Saturday, with five Perry teams in action. Competing were Perry 4-6th grade, Perry White 7-8, Perry Blue (eight grade only), Perry Silver (grade eight) and Perry Navy (grade seven). The final two teams were made up of girls from Panora.

Perry Blue (8) was a perfect 17-0 in league play and thereby received the top seed and a first round bye in the 8th Gold bracket. They defeated Perry Silver in two sets after Silver had bested the West Des Moines Tigers.

The win moved Blue into the finals against Elevation, an all-boys team. Blue forced the match to three sets before falling and placing second. Team members were Cadence Conrad, Ayden Erickson, Yamalet Gonzalez, Alejandra Hernandez, Alexandra Mills, Charity Parnell, and Karagyn Whelchel.

Perry 4-6th defeated Indianola in three sets to move into the semifinals, where they were stopped by the Wolfpack in two sets. Team members are Chloe Butler, Adeana Eddins, Metzley Nava, Yaneli Torres Gonzalez, Jaylyn Robb, Aurora Wilson, and Jayse Whelchel.  Not included in the team picture were Caitlin Harland, Edlyn Iben, Lenyn Walton, Natalie Whiton and Macy Vail.

Perry White defeated Sportsplex Evolution Yellow and Green, doing so by bouncing back from opening set losses to win both times by a 2-1 margin. Perry White then battled Evolution White in the finals, losing the first set but once again rebounding to win the next two sets and claim the championship of the 8th Silver bracket. Team members were Chloe Hurley, Cate Erickson, Kalley Whelchel, Sofia Martinez Soriano, Maria Valdez, Taylor Marler and Hannah Sucher.

Perry Silver team members were Reece David, Jessica Randol, Gracie Recker, Bridget White, Ava Thompson, Elah Molloy, Miranda Labs and Nerea Gimeno-Perez.
