JEFFERSON, Iowa — The History Boy Theater Co. will open its summer season June 8 when regional theater goers see a production of “Hands on a Hardbody.”[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

According to the theater, “Hands on a Hardbody” features “10 hard-luck Texans trying to gain a new lease on life, and it’s so close they can touch it. Standing days under a fervent sun with nothing more than hope, aspiration and humor, they will fight to keep their hands on a brand-new Nissan hardbody truck in order to win it.”

Only one person can drive away with the American dream in this musical comedy inspired by the true events captured in the 1997 documentary of the same name.

“Hands on a Hardbody” will open on the History Boy stage Friday, June 8 at 7 p.m. for the first of six performances. Other performances are Saturday, June 9, Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. and matinee performances Sunday, June 10 and Sunday, June 17 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale for $15 and can be obtained by stopping into RVP~1875, calling 515-370-5369 or by visiting the History Boy Theater Co. website.

The History Boy Theater Co. was opened by Robby Pedersen in the summer 2009. Wanting the ability to choose his own shows and have artistic freedoms, Pedersen created his own regional theatre company and strives for high-quality theater, choosing shows that might not normally be done in smaller cities.

The 120-seat theater is situated in the back warehouse portion of Pedersen’s historical furniture shop and museum at 115 S. Wilson Ave. in Jefferson.
