The Perry grade 9-10 football team was overwhelmed by visiting DC-G Friday, falling 41-7 at Dewey Field.

The Mustangs held an early 7-0 lead when Bluejay sophomore Ever Tobar intercepted a pass and returned the theft 97 yards for a touchdown. Tobar added the PAT kick to help leave the score tied at 7-all after one quarter of play.

Tobar would replicate his thievery in the varsity game, as his 43-yard pick-six in the fourth quarter was the only Perry score in the second contest as well.

Perry finished with just 10 yards rushing on 22 carries, as two sacks and two stops for a loss resulted in 23 negative yards. Jeb Stewart had 20 yards on 10 carries, with Konnor Eppert gaining 12 yards on two rushes while Jayson Chavez carried six times for one yard.

Bluejay passers combined to complete one pass in five attempts for five yards, with two passes being intercepted.

The Perry frosh/soph squad returns to action Friday at Gilbert, with kickoff at 4:45 p.m.
