PANORA — A battle of top 10 teams required additional time to be decided Saturday, and when the extra four minutes had elapsed it was host and seventh-ranked Panorama who had emerged victorious.

The Panthers trailed for most of the game but caught, and then surpassed, the 10th-ranked Wolves of IKM-Manning for a 48-43 non-conference victory.

Coach Dan Druivenga’s club faced a 16-13 halftime deficit and trailed, 29-25, entering the final quarter. Panorama grabbed a brief lead before IKM-Manning tied the game at 37-all, with just over 10 seconds left in regulation. The hosts had a chance to win the game in the waning moments but could not convert, forcing overtime.

A pair of fast break baskets helped the Panthers open a small lead, and the defense played well for the hosts in the final minutes to enable the five-point victory.

Devyn Kemble had 15 points and six rebounds for Panorama, with Bailey Beckman adding 14 points and three boards. Morgan Johnk had nine points and eight rebounds, with Faith Powell contributing six points and three steals while Nicole Rolfes added four points.

Kia Rasmussen had 14 points and Payton Sporrer 10 for the Wolves.

Panorama (5-0, 3-0 in WCC play) was a 48-34 winner over Earlham Tuesday, but statistics had yet to be reported. The Panthers visit Martensdale-St. Marys tonight before returning home to face AC/GC Friday.
