The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines has issued a wind advisory for the Perry area in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday.

Strong winds will persist across much of Iowa Thursday and might even strengthen in parts of northern Iowa later Thursday morning. Winds will be mostly from the east, amplifying travel impacts on north-south roads, such as U.S. Interstate 35.

The easterly winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts in excess of 45 mph, will turn toward the southeast to south Thursday afternoon and remain gusty into the early evening hours, according to the NWS.

High winds can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Motorists are advised to use extra caution. Loose outdoor objects may be blown around as well.
