An Oklahoma man was arrested Friday morning following the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Iowa Highway 141 and Iowa Highway 144 that injured a motorcyclist.

Initial investigations by the Perry Police Department indicated that a 1995 Chevy Astro van, driven by Cody Allen Pipkin, 30, of Cushing, Oklahoma, was traveling northbound on J Avenue and attempting to turn westbound onto Iowa Highway 141 when it collided with a 2023 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Zachary Scott Allison, 45, that was traveling southbound on Iowa Highway 144 (First Avenue) and attempting to turn eastbound onto Iowa Highway 141.

The van and the motorcycle collided within the intersection of Iowa Highways 141 and 144 about 5:30 a.m., according to Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn.

Vaughn said Allison was seriously injured and was transported by Dallas County EMS, and Pipkin was uninjured.

Pipkin was issued a citation for failure to have a valid driver’s license and failure to have insurance, and he was also arrested on an active Adair County warrant for failure to appear on a original charge of third-degree criminal mischief.
