The driver of a car that struck a Dallas County dump truck from behind was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines Tuesday morning with unknown injuries.
The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on Iowa Highway 141 at Hull Avenue west of Perry, where county road crews are making drainage improvements on the granular-surface road.
The westbound dump truck was stopped and waiting to turn south on Hull Avenue when it was rear ended, according to witnesses.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the mishap. No citations have been issued.
The Perry Police Department, Perry First Responders, Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s office and Dallas County EMS also responded to the incident.
