The Panorama Panther girls basketball team had back-to-back wins last week, defeating IKM-Manning Wolves 62-34 Thursday night and crushing the Madrid Tigers 62-18 on Friday.

“We used our defense to jump start our offense in the first half,” Coach Boettcher said of Thursday action. “We were happy to see more girls contributing with the point total, too.”

The Panthers out matched their opponent on rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. Seniors Tyme Boettcher lead the Panthers with 20 points and Mia Waddle added 18 and
Jaidyn Sellers 12.

Sellers and Kelsey Laabs added 5 rebounds each, and Kaitlyn Kent led in assists with 6,
while Boettcher and Morgan Crees added 3 and 2 as well.

The Panther girls traveled to Madrid Friday to take on the Tigers in their first conference match and came away with the 62-18 win.

“It was a team win,” said Coach Boettcher. “Madrid came out strong from the outside, but our defense flipped a switch in the second quarter that helped to ignite our offense.”

Tyme Boettcher again led the Panthers in scoring with 20 points, with Jaidyn Sellers and Morgan Crees also in double digits.

The Panther girls are now ranked number three in Class 2A, according to the IGHSAU rankings, with a record of 3-0 and 1-0 in conference competition. They play at home for the first time this season Tuesday night against Earlham High School, rated ninth in Class 1A.

In Panther boys’ play, the IKM-Manning Wolves fell to the Panthers 50-28 Thursday.

Maddox Hammerstrom, Braylon Dawes and AJ Draper led the board in points in double digits. Several other Panthers added single-digit point totals as well.

On Friday night the Panthers traveled to Madrid to compete in their first conference matchup and lost a very close and well played game 65-59.

Three Panthers scored in the double digits: Maddox Hammerstrom put in 23, Braylon Dawes had 15 and Trey Boettcher contributed 13.
