GUTHRIE CENTER — The Panorama boys basketball team bounced back for a 67-27 loss at Van Meter Dec. 11 to claim a 62-48 win over host AC/GC Friday. The split decision leaves Panorama 2-3 overall and 2-3 in WCAC action.

Friday’s victory came on the strength of a strong second half from the Panthers. The host Chargers (2-5, 1-5) had taken a 21-14 lead after eight minutes of play and were in front by a basket, at 31-29, at the half.

Panorama took control of the game with a 16-5 third quarter to open a nine-point lead, then slowly widened their advantage to win by 14 points.

Zach Rizzuti had an excellent game for the guests, scoring 25 points, grabbing eight rebounds and making three steals. Kolby Shackelford added 17 points, and Gracen Welberg nine points, eight boards and four steals.

Malachi Peasley aided the winning cause with seven points, four steals and three assists, with Lucas Leiferman tallying four points.

Statistical information from AC/GC was not available.

Panorama had no such luck against undefeated Van Meter Dec. 11. The Bulldogs raced to a 34-12 halftime lead and burst to a 54-16 advantage after three frames en route to the win.

Dominic Walker led Panorama with nine points. Shackelford and Jack Weinhoetz had six points apiece, with Rizzuti, Welberg and Preston Walker scoring two points each.

Ryan Schmitt had 16 points, Anthony Potthoff 15 and Spencer Lamb and Brett Berg 10 each to help lead Van Meter.

Panorama hosts Ogden tonight, visits Mount Ayr Thursday and finishes the pre-holiday schedule with a boys-only set against visiting Woodward Academy Friday.
