JEFFERSON — The Panorama cross country teams had another strong outing Thursday, with the Panther girls placing second among 10 teams and the Panther boys fourth in an 11-team field at the Greene County Invitational.
“The kids were disappointed with their times, but the coaches were pleased,” Panther head coach Greg Thompson said. “Due to Labor Day and the weather this week we didn’t get to have a very normal practice week, which may have had some effect on their mental preparation for this race. With a home meet this week and a desire to improve, the teams are eager to race again. I love that attitude!”
CMB won the 122-runner girls Class A race with 40 points, with Panorama second with 99 points, one better than West Marshall (100). AC/GC (102) was fourth and Roland-Story (156) fifth, with Colo-NESCO (157), Ogden (166), WCV (166), SE Valley (222) and South Hamilton (234) completing the field.
Kate Crawford and Emma Swanson from AC-GC finished 1-2 in 20 minutes, 28.66 seconds and 21:04.23, but Panorama juniors Brianna Hoffman and Devyn Kemble were close behind, finishing third and seventh, respectively, in 21:11.65 and 21:42.49.
