MADRID —  Third-ranked Panorama wasted little time in seizing control of Tuesday’s WCAC girls basketball scrum, racing to a 26-7 lead after eight minutes of play en route to a 71-39 victory over Madrid.

Panorama (17-1, 13-0) held a 38-17 lead at the break and possessed a 56-32 advantage after three quarters. The Panthers were 8-of-15 on 3-point shots and hit 26-of-58 from the floor overall. The team grabbed 42 rebounds and finished 11-of-17 at the free throw line.

Morgan Johnk had 19 points, Bailey Beckman 16 and Devyn Kemble 11 for Panorama, with Hope Wilderman adding seven points and Kellie Prince six. Four points from Faith Powell, three from Nicole Rolfes and two each from Brooke Halterman and Lydia Knapp, along with a Taylor Rishel free throw, wrapped the Panther score sheet.

Johnk had seven rebounds and four assists, Kemble six boards and four assists, Beckman three assists and two steals and Powell five caroms to spark the victory.

Panorama visits Van Meter Friday before hosting Woodward-Granger Tuesday. They will then entertain Ogden Feb. 2.
