PANORA — Ogden edged Des Moines Christian, 215-217, for top honors in a nine-hole WCAC girls golf invite at Lake Panorama National Monday.

Host Panorama was third at 229, with Woodward-Granger fourth at 252, Earlham fifth at 264 and AC/GC sixth at 314. Madrid had only two golfers and thus could not create a team score.

Ogden’s Maranda Wheelock claimed medalist honors with a score of 42, with DMC’s CeCe Sturdivant the runner-up medalist with a 45.

“Obviously this was not the outcome we hoped for, but I am encouraged by us having fewer scores in the 60s,” Panorama head coach Melissa Hochstetler said. “We are making progress!”

Jordan Douglass and Chloe Webster had rounds of 56 and 57, respectively, to lead the hosts, with Anna Duis and Madi Fear each scoring after both turned in rounds of 58. Lauren McClatchey (61) and Abby Cobb (67) were also in action for the Panther varsity.

Cierra DeHoet’s 54 was the low card for Woodward-Granger. Aubrey Mescher had a 62, Emma Greiner a 67 and Emily Trewet a 69 to complete the Hawk scoring. Rounds of 79 from Megan Burkhart and of 97 from Bailey Thompson were not scored.

Michaella Walker (51), Ashton Boggess (57) and Faith Mohr (65) joined Wheelock in providing the winning total for Ogden. Also playing for the Bulldogs were Ramsey Ross (73) and Elizabeth Stonehoker (77).

DMC used cards of 45 from Studivant and of 53 from Ana Swaim, as well as of 56 from Mwihaki Njorge and of 63 from Claire Stromley to place seconds. Callie Fish (64) and Ashley Kimani (65) were also in action for the Lions.

Meredith Hochstetler (56), Kaylie Hohertz (62), Sophia Balch (72) and Ella Goodrich (74) scored for Earlham. The Cardinals did not count cards from either Ashleigh Weesner (91) or Jenna Hardenbrook (115).

AC/GC’s total came from the foursome of Kena Baier (63), Morgan Sheeder (72), Sally Jo Geckler (86) and Jessica Stringer (93).

Mallory Smith had a 66 and Sophia Harshbarger a 70 for Madrid, with the Panorama junior varsity represented by Alex Kurtz (55) and Taylor Rabikis (77).

The Panther girls will join the Panorama boys and both DMC squads for a coed triangular hosted by WCV, at the 5×80 course in Menlo, today. The Panorama girls will then take part in the 18-hole Woodward-Granger Invitational Thursday, with the tee time set for 1 p.m.
