PANORA, IOWA — Four girls and three boys competed for host Panorama Thursday in the WCAC cross country meet.
Van Meter won the girls side with 45 points, with Des Moines Christian second at 62 and Earlham third at 91. The boys crown went to DMC at 57 points, with AC/GC second at 64 and Earlham third at 77. A total of 101 girls and 132 boys ran the varsity race.
Clare and Mary Kelly of Van Meter were 1-2 in the girls race in 20 minutes, 21 seconds and 20:53, respectively, with AC/GC’s Ava Campbell third in 21:12.
Jayden Dickson of Earlham (16:08), Aaron Fynaardt of DMC (16:16) and Carson Houg of DMC (16:44) were the top three finishers in the boys competition.
Payton Beckman was the first Panther girl to finish, crossing 26th in 22:53. Leah Fett (51st, 25:02), Alice Schann (66th, 26:15) and Avery Bahrenfuss (70th,26:35) also competed for the hosts.
Ryan McCarthy (72nd, 21:25), Avery Norman (86th, 22:12) and Laine Christe (121st, 25:48) were the three Panther boys competing.
Panorama will also host a Class 1A State Qualifying meet at the Lake Panora Par 3 Golf Course. The meet will begin at 4 p.m. Oct. 21.
