GUTHRIE CENTER, Iowa — Panorama had eight of the 10 wrestlers they had in action Saturday finish with team points at the AC/GC Invitational.
Greene County won the 20-team event with 186 points. SE Valley was second at 153.5 and AHSTW third at 143.5 while Panorama placed sixth with 104 points.
Senior 220-pounder Cooper Andersen (33-2) finished second at 220 pounds. Ranked fourth in Class 1A, he recorded two wins by fall before being stopped by NW Webster’s Brodie Anderson (31-8) in the finals, with the latter fifth in 1A at 195.
Third for the Panthers was 113-pounder Tage Monahan (11-7), was finished 2-1 with a pair of pins while Landon Goodenberger (10-10) finished fourth at 160 with a 2-2 mark that included a win by pin and a win by decision.
Fifth for Panorama were both Cayden Van Meer (31-12 at 138 pounds) and James Hein (20-7 at 182). Van Meer was 3-1 with two pins and a major decision, with Hein recording three pins in finishing 3-1.
Landon Kirtley (23-19) placed seventh at 120 with a 3-2 mark, with two decisions and a pin the means of victory.
Both Keyton VanGundy (12-20 at 170) and Issac Monroy-Nunez (12-9) were 2-3, with each placing eight. Each won once by decision and once by fall.
Also in action for Panorama were Laine Christe (21-14) at 106 and Maddox Nunn (6-26) at 132. Neither were able to collect a win in either of their two matches.
The Panthers did not have entrants at 126, 145, 152 and 195 pounds.
Panorama will return to action Saturday in the 1A Sectional 10 meet at Ogden, with Baxter, Colfax-Mingo, Collins-Maxwell, Lynnville-Sully and Van Meter also participating.
Wrestlers who win their weight class or finish as runner-up will move on the District 5 tourney Feb. 12 in Pleasantville. They will square off against advancers from Pleasantville, Earlham, Interstate-35, Martensdale-St. Marys, Mt. Ayr, Nodaway Valley, Se Warren/Melcher-Dallas and Wayne.
