GREENFIELD — Saturday’s non-conference set was postponed to Monday, with the result being a 48-hour wait for Panorama to claim their latest pair of wins on the hardwood.

The Panorama girls won a game closer than the final score might indicate with a 61-54 triumph over host Nodaway Valley, with the Panther boys topping the host Wolverines, 62-59, in a close-played contest in which both teams shot well at the foul line.

Panorama moved to 7-5 and Nodaway Valley fell to 7-4 after the nightcap, which saw neither team lead by more than two possessions.

The guests held a 19-13 edge after one period, but found their advantage just 26-25 at halftime. The Panthers maintained their edge, at 40-39, as the fourth quarter began, but the Wolverines slowly opened a 50-45 gap with under four minutes to play.

Panorama closed their deficit in a strong two-minute stretch, then held on thanks to sharpshooting at the charity stripe.

The Wolverines finished 16-of-20 at the line and were 9-of-12 in the second half, but Panther senior guard Malachi Peasley melted the nylon by draining all 15 of his freebies to help secure the victory. Panorama was 16-of-20 at the stripe in the second half after missing their lone attempt before the break.

Peasley finished with 19 points, with Zach Rizzuti adding 15 on five 3-pointers. Kolby Shackelford had nine points, Michael Allen six, Drew Talor four and Preston Walker and Jared Wasson two each for the guests. Allen pulled down seven rebounds and Peasley six, with Peasley having five assists.

Toby Bower’s game-high 24 points paced the home team. Tyler Vandewater had 19 points and Clay Hohertz 11, with Joshua Baudler adding four points and Mason Menefee one.

Both girls teams found their record set at 10-2 after the opener, in which the Panthers created a large bulge and then held on for victory.

Panorama owned advantages of 17-10 and of 36-25 after each of the first two quarters, then expanded their lead to 53-37 as the third frame ended.

Nodaway Valley launched a determined surge, outscoring their guests, 17-8, over the final eight minutes, but the effort was not enough to erase their deficit.

The Panthers connected on 12-of-27 3-pointers, with six different players dialed in from long range. Payton Beckman hit three treys, Anna Holloway, Shey Storesund, Laci Rishel and Ella Waddle two each and Angel Poldberg one.

Beckman finished with 18 points and Rishel with 16. Storesund and Waddle each had eight points, Holloway seven and Poldberg four.

Storesund was strong off the glass with 11 rebounds, with Rishel having five steals, four assists and two blocked shots while Beckman made four thefts.

Maddax DeVault paced NV with 17 points, with Reagan Veinheimer providing 11 and Lexi Shike 10. Alyssa Davis contributed seven points, Cornne Bond six, McKynna Newbury two and Naomi Daugherty one.

Panorama is at Madrid tonight before hosting AC/GC Friday.
