Panorama thinclads host annual Kip Janvrin Invitational

PANORA — The Panorama girls placed second and the Panther boys fourth Tuesday in the Kip Janvrin Invitational on their home track.

“The girls should have won the meet because the shuttle hurdle relay was disqualified, which cost us eight points,” Panorama head coach Greg Thompson said. “The boys team showed big improvement over last week’s meets.”

AC/GC claimed the girls side, 133-125.5, over Panorama, the shuttle relay points the difference. Madrid was second at 119, with Greene County (66.5), Ogden (54), Woodward-Granger (46), Glidden-Ralston (33) and Iowa Christian Academy (9) also in action.

W-G won the boys portion with 120 points, with Greene County second at 114. AC/GC (101) was third and Panorama (97) fourth, with Ogden (73), Iowa Christian Academy (47) and Glidden-Ralston (34) completing the field.

The Panther girls won two field events, with Kassidy Bremer claiming the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 1 inch while Lydia Knapp spun the discus 109-7 for a first place. Kennedy Anderson was sixth for the hosts in the shot put at 30’9.

Devyn Kemble won the 400 low hurdles in 1 minute, 12.47 seconds, with Lydia Lindstrom fourth in 1:19.19 while Morgan Johnk and Maggie Woodvine placed 1-4 in the 100 hurdles in 16.6 and 18.48 seconds, respectively.

Kemble was first (1:03.05) and Bailey Beckman third (1:06.02) in the 400, with Payton Douglass fourth in the 200 (29.05), Johnk fourth (13.49) and Carson Fisher tied for fifth (13.84) in the 100 while Emily Smith was fifth in the 800 (2:05.2). Brianna Hoffman and Brooklyn Behrends crossed fifth and sixth, in 5:45.13 and 5:48.92, respectively, in the 1500.

Beckman, Bremer, Johnk and Kemble teamed to win the sprint medley in 1:57.55, with Kellie Prince, Hope Arganbright, Hoffman and Douglass third in the distance medley in 4:48.62.

Douglass, Bremer, Beckman and Johnk were second in the 4×100 (53.52) with Fisher, Bremer, Lydia Knapp and Brooke Halterman placing third in the 4×200 (1:56.91) while Hoffman, Behrends, Lindstrom and Taylor Rishel crossed second in the 4×800 (11:13.27).

The final event, the 4×400, was run by Halterman, Beckman, Fisher and Kemble, with the quarter second on a clocking of 4:33.14.

Spencer Hunt and Bryce Halterman placed 1-6 in the 200 in 23.99 and 25.24 for the Panther boys, with Luke South third (11.97) and Halterman fifth (12.12) in the 100 while Hunt was second (55.79) and Conner Meinecke fifth (1:00.31) in the 400.

Danny Nordquist used a 2:14.4 to finish fourth in the 800, with Josh Carstens fourth and Colton Stogdill sixth, in 11:04.1 and 12:51.9, respectively, in the 3200 for the hosts.

South won the 110 high hurdles in 17.04, with Sam Webster third in 19.03. Webster, Aaron Irving, Kyle Cogil and Drew Hafner fourth, in 1:19.41 in the shuttle hurdle relay.

The 4×200 and 4×400 both finished second, with Irving, Halterman, Allias Stahlf and Emry Colby running the former in 1:42.47 and Blaine Barber, Nordquist, Meinecke and Hunt the latter in 3:50.8.

Placing third was the 4×100 team of Stahl, Barber, Meinecke and South, in 48.49, and the 4×800 unit of Nordquist, Colby, Levi Richey and Kaleb Randel, in 9:41.25.

Meinecke, Barber, South and Hunt were third in the sprint medley (1:42.67), with Webster, Cogil, Kade Kemble and Benny Barroso sixth in the distance medley (4:45.64).

Koltin Sloss provided fifth place points in both the shot put (36’6-1/2) and the discus (102’3).

Coach Thompson noted 14 new personal bests by the Panther girls and 15 PB’s for the boys team, naming Bremer the girls meet MVP and Nordquist the boys meet MVP, with each having generated two new PB’s.

“Most of the kids had three or four events, but still looked good and performed well even when they were tired,” he said. “This was the best meet of the season so far. They need to keep working hard; they are seeing the results.”

Panorama returns to action tomorrow with a visit to AC/GC, which is serving as the host site for the Coon Rapids-Bayard Invitational.
