Chili and potato soup were the first order of business for the many people who attended the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren Sunday afternoon for the congregation’s annual soup luncheon and craft fair.
Crackers, corn muffins and homemade desserts topped off the meal, which was offered in return for a free-will donation.
After lunch, visitors were free to examine the numerous items of handicrafts on sale as part of the church’s annual fall fundraiser. Hand-woven throw rugs, holiday decorations, kitchen notions and many other items were available, along with a great variety of handmade baked goods.
“This is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Pastor Dave Kerkove. He said the proceeds from the fall event supports many of the church’s ongoing charities, such as the Books for Nigeria program and the Diapers for Haiti program.
