OGDEN — A fast start carried Ogden past visiting Panorama, 5-2, in WCAC softball Tuesday.

Panorama (8-17, 4-13) was coming off a doubleheader split with guest AC/GC Monday, a pair of tight contests not settled until the final inning of each game.

Ogden (18-6, 13-4) plated three runs in their first at-bat to swiftly jump out front in Tuesday’s battle. Panorama scored once in the second, with Ogden countering with a third-inning tally to move the score to 4-1. The Panthers touched home once in the fifth but could come no closer in suffering the setback.

Grace Richey pitched all seven frames for the visitors, yielding five runs on eight hits and six walks. She recorded four strikeouts.

Lydia Knapp had two singles and a run scored for the Panthers, with Shey Storesund adding a single and a run. Hannah Woodworth singled and walked, with Claire Woodworth adding a hit and a RBI while Lindsey VanGundy also drove in a run.

Statistical information from Ogden was not available.

Panorama was coming off Monday’s twin bill with AC/GC (11-16, 6-13). The Chargers dodged a late Panther rally for a 6-5 win in the opener, with Panorama (as the visitor) scoring twice in the top of the ninth to claim an 11-9 victory in the nightcap.

AC/GC turned a 3-2 lead after five frames in the first game into a 6-2 margin with three runs in the top of the sixth, only to see Panorama push three runs across the plate in the bottom of the seventh to close to within 6-5.

Unfortunately for the hosts they could not bring at least the tying run home and suffered the loss.

Ashley Clark and Jasmyn Sellers had three singles and a RBI apiece, with Hannah Woodworth, Kennedy Andersen and Knapp each adding two hits. Andersen drove in two runs and Knapp one.

Richey allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits while fanning four in taking the tally in her won-loss column.

Saige O’Brien threw six frames for the Chargers and Savanna Fuller one. The former allowed four runs on 12 hits and the latter one run on four hits, with O’Brien striking out three and Fuller two. O’Brien issued the lone walk of the game.

Genevieve Hoover had three hits and scored twice for AC/GC, with Tori Fuller hitting a home run and providing two RBIs while Savanna Fuller had two RBIs and a double.

The nightcap featured 20 combined runs on 19 hits, with runs coming at a steady pace.

The teams were tied at 2-all after four innings, with the Chargers moving into an 8-4 advantage at the end of six frames. Four runs from the Panthers in the top of the seventh forced extra softball, with each team scoring once in the eighth as play continued.

Panorama finally salted away the win with two unanswered runs in the seventh for their eighth overall win of the season.

Savanna Fuller went all nine frames in being handed the loss. She yielded 11 runs (five earned) on 18 hits and a walk while striking out nine.

Madalyn Kelsey had a single, double and home run while driving in two runs for the Chargers, with Tori Fuller adding a single, a triple and two RBIs while Hoover had two doubles, a single and a RBI.

Knapp picked up the pitching win. She tossed eight innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on nine hits while walking seven and sitting seven down on strikes. Richey threw one inning, surrendering three unearned runs on one hit.

Andersen was spectacular at the plate, finishing 5-for-5 with three doubles and two singles. She reached on a walk on her other appearance, safely taking a base in all six of her plate appearances.

Sellers had a double, two singles and two RBIs, Vallerie Storesund a double, single and RBI and VanGundy three hits and two RBIs.

Panorama returns to action Thursday with a WCAC varsity doubleheader at Interstate-35.
