MADRID — The Panorama cagers completed a pair of season sweeps Tuesday by besting host Madrid in WCAC hardwood action.

The Panther girls (11-2, 7-1) were 52-34 victors, with Panorama (8-5, 6-3) claiming a 74-61 win over Madrid (10-3, 8-3) in the boys contest.

Sophomore Laci Rishel buried five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 24 points for Panorama, with fellow sophomore Angel Poldberg scoring 13 points while pulling down 12 rebounds and making seven steals.

The Panthers started cold and trailed, 11-8, after one quarter, but flipped the momentum in the second frame to enter the break leading 25-19. A 14-3 spurt in the third quarter pushed the margin to 39-22 and cemented the win.

Ella Waddle had seven points, Payton Beckman five and Anna Holloway three for the guests. Waddle landed two treys and Poldberg and Holloway one each.

Beckman was held without a field goal, scoring all five of her points at the foul line. She altered her game and still played a key role by collecting seven caroms, handing out six assists and making five thefts.

Hannah Mertz had 12 points and Josie Springer 10 for Madrid. Gabby Brunner provided six points, Erin Schieltz three, Lily Ostert two and Macy Gibbons one.

Panorama had a hot shooting hand in the boys game, sinking 12-of-24 3-pointers and 16-of-18 free throws. Madrid was 5-of-15 beyond the arc and 8-of-16 free throws.

The Panthers led, 18-11, after one frame and held a 31-26 halftime edge. The Tigers cut the gap to 46-43 entering the fourth frame, but Panorama outscored their hosts by 10 points over the last eight minutes to pull away for the win.

Panorama senior guard Malachi Peasley leads Class 2A with 78 made field goals, and is now third in average at 87.6 percent (78-of-89) among those attempting at least 40 free throws.

Peasley connected on all seven of his trips to the line Tuesday after converting each of his 15 tries Monday. He lead the Panthers with 20 points while distributing 10 assists.

Kolby Shackelford had 16 points, Lucas Leiferman 13 and Dominic Walker 11 for the Panthers, with Zach Rizzuti adding six points and Michael Allen and Evan Taylor four apiece. Leiferman, Shackelford and Rizzuti had three 3-pointers each, with Rizzuti making two and Peasley one.

Braden Gibbons led all scorers by pouring in 34 points for the Tigers. Mason Lobeck provided 13 points, Gabe Peterson five, Cayden Fuson four, CJ Deam and Alex Biegger two apiece and Kody Carlson one. Gibbons splashed four treys and Peterson one.

Panorama had swept Madrid Dec. 13, winning the girls game, 54-31, and the boys contest, 77-68.

Panorama returns to action Friday when they host AC/GC for a WCAC twin bill.
