PELLA — A series of unearned runs by the guests and a potent offensive attack from the hosts allowed Pella Christian to post an 11-1 five-inning win over Panorama in their Class 2A Region 2 softball contest.

Panorama (11-21) jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Lydia Knapp launched a solo home run in the top of the first.

The Eagles (13-19) responded with four runs in their first at-bat, then added a fifth run in the second. Three runs in the third and three more in the fourth set the stage for the game to end early, which it did when the Panthers could not score at least once in the fifth.

Grace Richey started for Panorama and pitched three innings. She allowed eight runs (only two of which were earned) on seven hits and two walks. Knapp pitched an inning of relief, surrendering three runs on two hits and four walks. Both Panther pitchers finished with a pair of strikeouts.

Singles from Vallerie Storesund and Lindsey VanGundy accounted for the only other base runners for Panorama.

Cheyanne Collins allowed a run on three hits in five innings for the Eagles. She recorded three strikeouts.

Anna Bonnett had a base hit and four total RBIs for the hosts, with Collins adding a double.

Kennedy Andersen, Ashley Clark, Olivia Richey, Hannah Woodworth, Knapp and Storesund all played in their final games for the Panthers, who are coached by Ryan Nail.
