The work it takes to reach the state baskteball tournament -- as Perry did in 2016 -- begins at an early age, and boys in grades 3-6 will soon have a chance to begin developing the necessary skills.

Pella pulled away to a commanding 76-39 lead after three periods in boys state basketball action Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Leading the Bluejay scoring were Shammond Ivory with 14, Kyle Nevitt with 13 and Janier Puente with 10.
