The Perry boys created their second streak of five consecutive wins this season after overwhelming visiting Ogden, 73-38, Saturday in a game rescheduled from December.
Ogden’s 38 points were only four more than the combined total poured in by Perry 6-5 senior post Janier Puente and 6-5 senior forward Kyle Nevitt in the first half alone. Puente scored at will in the paint, sinking 10 shots to finish with 20 points before the break while Nevitt buried two of his five 3-pointers in the opening 16 minutes en route to 14 points. Puente led all scorers with 28 total points, with Nevitt finishing with 25.
Perry (10-6 overall) held a 30-11 lead after one quarter and had a 47-20 lead at the half. The score stood at 66-30 after three frames, with the Bluejay reserves seeing plenty of playing time in the second half.
Drew Levan added five points and Rashon Ivory four, with Connor Nielsen, Reece Dunlap, Dane McCarty and Grant Eklund scoring two points apiece while Mark Campos added a free throw.
Noah Snedden led Ogden (6-14 overall) with 14 points, with Nathan Kennedy adding 13. Five points from Ben Heeren, three from Kayden Kruse, two from Charlie Lake and a free throw from Andrew Haberer accounted for the Bulldog offense.
Perry hosts Boone Tuesday, visits Bondurant-Farrar Friday and will then host Carroll at 1 p.m. Saturday in the make-up of their game postponed from Jan. 24.
