With sponsorship by the Raccoon Valley Bank in Perry, some 90 eighth graders from the Perry Middle School assembled 20,000 meals Thursday in a Meals from the Heartland event in the PMS gym.
Ben Croghan, event manager for Meals from the Heartland, was joined by Chris Marks, Perry Middle School technology instructor, and Brandi Wendt, Perry Middle School associate principal Brandi Wendt, in setting the stage for the packaging event, which assembled the 20,000 meals in about 90 minutes.
Employees from the Raccoon Valley Bank, including Kelsey Hughes, Eileen Splendore, Evan Sinclair, Angela Johnson, Tim Heiland and Jenna Hammond, were also on hand to help coordinate and supervise the assembly-line process, which provides meals for people in need around the world.
