Members of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department strung Christmas lights on the Raccoon Valley Bank trees Monday night in anticipation of Thanksgiving celebrations Thursday, and Friday, Nov. 23 brings Perry’s annual Lighted Christmas Parade, presented by ITC Midwest.

The parade begins at 7 p.m. and will follow the traditional route, moving north from Otley Avenue along Third Street to Pattee Street and then westward to Second Street and southward on Second Street to the starting point.

Following the parade, Santa Claus will pay a special visit to La Poste LLC in order to greet the well-behaved children and spread Christmas cheer to all. Youth carolers will sing at 8 p.m.

The whole downtown will be astir with holiday spirit Friday night, with activities including the Carnegie Library Museum’s Festival of Trees from 6-8 p.m. and a pancake dinner at the Hotel Pattee from 5-10 p.m.

The Perry High School Choir will perform at the hotel at 8:30 p.m., followed by Genevieve Michele Walczyk, the One-Woman Symphony, at 9 p.m.

Hot chocolate will be served at the Perry Perk.

The PHS junior class will host a S’mores Fundraiser in Soumas Court, and carolers will be singing joyfully throughout the downtown business and cultural district.
