Firefighters with the Perry Volunteer Fire Department returned to the scene of a November house fire Saturday morning in order to conduct a training burn.
No injuries were reported in the fire at 1608 Otley Ave. on Nov. 4, and none were sustained on Saturday, according to Fire Chief Chris Hinds.
“Today’s exercise gave some of the newer members of the crew to get a feel for handling the hoses and working with the equipment,” Hinds said. He said it also gave the firefighters useful practice in controlling a burning house that stands near other houses.
Hinds said the Perry department is licensed for 40 members and currently has a roster of 29.
The 102-year-old Otley Avenue house is owned by Randy Lynn Dawson, according to county records.
