The Perry girls lifted their record to 10-3 overall and 4-2 in Raccoon River Conference play with a trouble-free 56-14 win over a very young Bondurant-Farrar team Friday.
The Jayettes were off quickly, racing to a 20-1 lead after one quarter of play en route to a 35-5 halftime lead. The Lady Jays (0-14, 0-7) scored only on a free throw and two baskets from Taylor Berggren, one of six freshmen suiting for B-F, who also have two sophomores, one junior and one senior in their lineup.
Alynn Eichmeier, Lexi Bedier and Lacey Beck each scored a basket while Abby Hall drained a 3-pointer for the only points in the second half for the guests, who faced a 56-9 deficit after three periods.
The Jayettes buried 11 3-pointers in the win, with freshman guard Molly Lutmer continuing her hot streak. Lutmer splashed seven treys Saturday at Roland-Story, then added six more triples as part of a 20-point effort Friday.
Grace Marburger landed three treys of her own while also scoring 20 points, with Jo Diw knocking down two 3-pointers for six of her 12 points. Baskets from Emma Olejniczak and Grace Stewart capped the Perry scoring.
Perry will visit Boone — weather permitting — Monday for the makeup of the postponed Jan. 10 contest. The game will be girls varsity only and start at 6 p.m. The Jayettes will then rejoin their Bluejay counterparts for a visit from Carlisle Friday.
