Friday’s Perry community blood drive held at the Dallas County Hospital was another great success even amid all the graduation festivities and plans for the Memorial Day weekend, according to Ashtin Hazel, LifeServe Blood Center A+ territory representative.
“The community has shown great support for blood donation,” Hazel said. “Thank you to the help of Dallas County Hospital and the people of Perry.”
Hazel said 28 donors registered to donate blood at Friday’s drive, and 29 life-saving units were collected, a quantity of blood with the ability to impact up to 87 local lives. LifeServe Blood Center also celebrated the goals of several milestone donors:
- Jose Garcia – 1 Gallon
- James Caufield – 2 Gallons
- Daniel Northup – 3 Gallons
Two blood drives are scheduled for July, Hazel said. Laura Hernandez of Perry will host a blood drive of her own at DCH July 9 from 1-5:30 p.m. to save lives and attempt to earn a scholarship. There is also a community blood drive scheduled for July 26 from 2-6 p.m.
