The Bluejays was unable to use their normal practice field, as it is being occupied as part of the ongoing renovations to Dewey Field, so camp was held on the open field between the softball and baseball diamonds at the Perry Athletic Complex.

Perry will break in the first phases of the new-look Dewey Field when the begin the season by hosting Greene County August 24 for the 87th Cowbell Game. Perry (4-5 in 2017) overcame a frantic rally from visiting Greene County to score a 17-14 overtime victory last season in the oldest trophy game in Iowa.

The Bluejays will compete the next two seasons in a redrawn Class 3A District 2, a grouping that includes Boone, Carroll, DC-G, Humboldt and Webster City. The move to six-team districts means four non-district games to open the season, with Perry at ADM August 31 and at Nevada September 7 before hosting North Polk September 14.

DC-G visits Dewey Field September 21, with Perry at Webster City September 28 and at Carroll October 5. The regular season concludes October 12 and 19 with a visit from Boone and trip to Humboldt, respectively.
