Perry harriers pay visit to ADM Invite

ADEL, IA — The entire retinue to Perry cross country runners were in action Monday as ADM hosted varsity/junior varsity/middle school races for both boys and girls.

ADM won the girls varsity race with 45 points, with Perry ninth of 10 at 207. A total of 65 runners took part, with ADM senior Geneva Timmerman winning in 18 minutes, 45.4 seconds while standout Woodward-Granger freshman Eva Fleshner, ranked sixth in 1A, was second in 19:38.3.

Natalie Castillo led Perry by crossing 34th in 26:23.1 while Julie Maylum was 39th in 27:03.6. Amy Diaz (40th, 27:06.8), Taryn Nehring (44th, 27:32.8) and Mercedes Ponce (50th, 28:27.1) also scored, with Mylah Meis (53rd, 28:38.5) running as well.

Perry did not have a girl run in the JV meet, with ADM (41) winning the 2-mile middle school race while Perry was eighth of 10 at 191.

Lily Myers (9th, 13:58) was the fastest Jayette, with Harper Peterson (33rd, 16:20.6) and Ellie Hughes (35th, 16:23.8) following while Aleah Karolus (55th, 19:25.8) and Fiorella Oliver (59th, 20:29.6) scoring as well.

Also running the course were Payton Pierchbacher (20:38.6), Jadelyn Hoffman (20:54.1), Cali Hernandez (23:02.8) and Haley Nelson (25:27.8).

Sophomore Torin Timmerman of ADM joined his sister in winning a varsity race, crossing in 17:16.8 to lift the Tigers to first with 20 points. Perry was seventh of eight at 166.

Yonas Andemichael and Thad Stewart continue to lead the Bluejays, with the duo 13th in 18:40.2 and 31st in 21:06.5, respectively. Gannon Meis (35th, 21:59), Owen Myers (43rd, 22:44.8) and Bryce Anliker (44th, 22:45.7) also scored, with Jonathan Chavez (45th, 22:49.2) and Aiden Carlson (53rd, 26:49.9) running as well.

ADM won the boys JV race at 35, with Perry third of five squads at 86.

Chad Gray (14th, 23:43.8), Mason Hoffman (16th, 25:01), Kyeo Augustine (17th, 25:28.1), Carlos Ruiz-Aragon (18th, 25:35.9), and Minasay Tewelde (21st, 26:19.41) scored for the Jays while Isaac Ballard (29th, 29:33.4) and Kyle Hernandez (31st, 30:24.8) were also in action.

Perry was sixth of nine, at 157, in the boys middle school event, which DC-G won at 42 points.

Thomas Clark-Obbink (6th, 12:51.4) ran well for the Jays, with Juan Willett (29th, 14:12.3), George Krohn (31st, 14:17.4), Gavin Leslie (40th, 14:57.4), and Diego Diaz-Cardenas (51st, 17:03.7) providing points as well. Jerson Ramirez (58th, 19:08.6) and Edwyrd Stell (59th, 19:16.1) ran for Perry as well.

Perry returns to action Thursday with a visit to AC/GC.
